Samsara Creation is a Kathmandu-based social enterprise that creates eco-friendly products from recycled natural resources. We work with local artisans to recycle discarded plastic and textile waste into high-quality consumer goods and accessories such as bags, hats and home accessories.
Our story began in 2019. Back then we were graduate students sitting around the corners of the canteen to talk about Sustainability related projects for college assignments. Who else would have thought that a graduate-level project idea could turn into a startup solution? The 6 University graduate students from Kathmandu University School of Arts started a prototype project called ‘Waste to Art’.Improper waste management practices and waste generation inside Kathmandu Valley were two of our identified problems that gave us insight into the idea of ‘Waste to Art’ where waste could be turned into artistic products. As it says, fortune favours the brave, we decided to roll back the project idea and transform it into a business solution.
First, they collected waste from their homes and brought it to the production site. Now they make products from the waste collected from landfills. Samsara Creation offers a great range of consumer goods ranging from different types of bags such as totes, fanny packs, round bags, and bucket bags to hats, ties and scarves made from upcycled denim. We also manufacture lifestyle products such as storage baskets. We also collaborate with local craftsmen to produce handmade products by knitting and sewing. We focus on the 3 E’s: Education, Environment, and Entrepreneurship.
